Tarka Trail
Jacobstowe is part of the Tarka trail which passes Lashbrook House Bed & Breakfast, the area of largely unspoilt countryside which was immortalised by Henry Williamson in 1927 in his book, Tarka the Otter, which gives its name to the trail. A route of about 180 miles, for the most part clearly marked, in a figure of eight. The trail includes 30 miles of mostly flat cycle track between Braunton and Meeth, along the course of old railways which form part of the Coast to Coast cycle route between Ilfracombe in the north and Plymouth in the south.

Roadford between Launceston & Okehampton, located on the edge of Dartmoor with over 730 acres of water Roadford is the largest inland body of water in the South West of Devon. Popular Angling and Watersports Centre with facilities for brown trout angling, sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking . Fantastic network of footpaths and cycleway that winds through forest plantations. Lakeside Restaurant serves freshly cooked tasty meals, snacks and desserts. Meldon, near Okehampton is surrounded by the distinct Dartmoor countryside, providing an ideal starting point for moorland walks. By crosssing the dam which was completed in 1972 visitors can enjoy views of the water spanning the West Okement Valley. Meldon Viaduct can be seen on the north western edge of Dartmoor.

Close by to Lashbrook House B&B is Dartmoor it is the great wilderness of Southern England. it is surely be isolation, allowing man the ability to escape. Despite its rugged contours it is basically a table land - an island of granite set in a sea of other rock. The moorland granite occupies 248 square miles, of which 118 sauare miles of the plateau tower above the 1,200 feet contour and 28 square miles above 1,600 feet level. Best to be enjoyed on foot or on horseback. Animals are prone to wander on the highways, Dartmoor ponies to the tough, hardy little scotch black-faced sheep. Just a short drive away lies Dartmoor prison and Hound of the Baskervilles country. A prison Museum is open to the public and well worth a visit. There are pubs and restaurants to stop and enjoy the wonderful views in the villages.

Beaches
From Lashbrook House B&B follow the A3072 to Bude beach which is about 20 miles away, with it's long sandy beach and outdoor pool great day out for the family, local shops, restaurants, cafes and ice creams. The beaches to try north of Bude are Westward Ho, Braunton , Croyde Bay, and Woolacombe with their fabulous long stretches of sandy beaches, sit and look at the surfers, enjoy a swim, stroll along the seafront or relax in a deck chair.
